Promotion

I have just been promoted to the Office Manager at work. I wasn't sure about going for this promotion initially with all the changes that are about to take place this year with Lily, but I decided to go for it anyway. If anything, it's a good distraction from the waiting, because this is going to be a challenging next month or two. Until we can hire my replacement, I'll be doing both jobs for at least the next 6 weeks. The good news is that it's more money and more vacation time, yippee!

Daren and I attended the FCC Chinese New Year party last Saturday and had a great time. There were actually 700 people there and TONS of very cute kids. We sat at a table with some other waiting families and some parents with their kids. One couple was there with their 10 year old daughter that they adopted from China when she was a baby. The cool thing is that they used the same exact agency that we are using (which is a smaller, local agency). It was cool to hear about their adoption experience 10 years ago as many things have changed. Their daughter Sara was absolutely beautiful. Daren got it a lot of video camera practice with all the kids performing their Chinese dances and songs. Food was great too!

One Year Anniversary-Adoption Process

One year ago today, we were accepted by our agency and hence I consider this to be the one year anniversary of our adoption process. I wish I could say that it seems like it has gone by really quickly, but the truth is that it doesn't feel that way at all. It actually feels a lot longer than one year. Maybe it's because one year ago today I actually cried when our agency accepted us and I told Cindy that it was the closest that I think I'll ever feel to being told that I'm pregnant. Maybe it's because I haven't stopped thinking about my daughter for one single day in the past year. Regardless, it has been a year and I'm glad it's behind us. I'm looking forward to the coming year when I will be united with my beautiful daughter, Lilian, that I love so much already.
